Les Indes Galantes

// film court

In 2017, Clément Cogitore directed the short film Les Indes galantes based on Jean Philippe Rameau’s opera-ballet produced by the 3e scène – Opéra national de Paris platform. The director imagines a possible dialogue between street dancers and this baroque music. K.R.U.M.P. is a protest dance that originated in the ghettos of Los Angeles in the 2000s. For Clément Cogitore, inviting choreographer Bintou Dembélé, who works with street dance and colonial history, was an obvious choice. Together, they conceived this film, in which the telluric, percussive dance blends divinely with the music of the opera-ballet.
