DETER
// Albane Guinet-Ahrens // La Belle Ouvrage
In 2018 and 2019, Rualité and La Belle Ouvrage (a structure that supports professionals in culture and the arts) designed and implemented a specific training program called “DETER” for 19 dancers selected by choreographer Bintou Dembélé to perform the Opera-Ballet Les Indes Galantes at the Opéra de Paris.
The aim of the program was to consider the conditions that would allow street-dancers to fully participate in the creation of the piece before creative work for the opera began: to help them acquire the codes and information necessary to succeed in their professional sphere; to question the colonial scope of the work in relation to their own path; to bond together as a group.
