abandonments and offerings. 

From one space to another,
death to birth.
silence to emergence,
the concealed to its revelation.

The rite to heal and hear the body’s woes/words
Everything carries me back to the desire 

To reinvent a function of the rite’s and initiation’s restriction 
Can the body’s memory ease us?

Reinvent palavers as the social link;
Dance, music and voice collide in the form of repetitions, loops in a cyclical mechanics.

And summon the Bouladjèl,
Rythmic polyphony that accompanies the Lewoz, cultural vigil of Guadeloupe,
Elements bind and unbind,
Stretch, twist and give way to a gesture of infinite gentleness.

Conceived as a choreographic concert with a composer guitarist and two dancers of Street dance, the piece was created in May 2018 at the Maison Daniel Féry, the Maison de la Musique (House of Music) in Nanterre. 

The project is inscribed in an artistic trajectory following S/T/R/A/T/E/S-Quartet, the piece through which Bintou Dembélé sought to reinvent the notion of rite as a passage from macro to micro through different dramaturgies. Here, Le syndrome de l’initié (The Syndrom of the Initiated) summons the body’s memory with K.R.U.M.P. dance, music and repetitive voice.
